Every year, Misset Horeca publishes a list of the best cafes in the Netherlands with the Caf\u00e9 Top 100. Last Monday, the Caf\u00e9 Top 100 was announced and what turns out? This year, Nijmegen supplies no less than seven caf\u00e9s of the ranking. Read in this blog which Nijmegen caf\u00e9s are part of the Caf\u00e9 Top 100 and why the jury is so laudatory. The rankings are produced by a professional jury that visits unannounced and assesses cafes. It is notable that three Nijmegen caf\u00e9s in the ranking are equipped with sustainable terrace heating. Caf\u00e9 Faber, St. Anneke and Caf\u00e9 De Opera have heat pads from Sit & Heat on their terraces. Incidentally, these terraces are known as cosy winter terraces among the Nijmegen public. Starting with Caf\u00e9 Faber which graces the 25th place in the ranking. Last year, Caf\u00e9 Faber was also in the rankings and this year, the judges were delighted with the caf\u00e9 again: \"We instantly fell in love with this beautiful establishment. One of those you hope for as a judge when you get to visit a pub.\"<\/em> The judges praised the beautiful interior, wide choice of beers, good staff and nice atmosphere. \"An employee greeted us even before we walked onto the terrace. Like he knew we were going in there.\"<\/em> The judges also compliment the menu, nicely done in the form of a newspaper (Fabertjeskrant). Moreover, Sit & Heat is well represented on their terrace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 51st place is St. Anneke, located on St. Annastraat in Nijmegen. According to the expert jury: \"On many days, all those passers-by see that the terrace located at the front and side of the caf\u00e9 is pleasantly busy. The terrace has the attraction of a magnet.\" <\/em>In the cold days, you can still sit outside at St Anneke and be nice and warm with Sit & Heat's sustainable heat cushions. Moreover, there is a nice selection of wines and beers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 75th place is Caf\u00e9 De Opera on Koningstraat in Nijmegen. \"Opera Nijmegen is a fine example of a (dark) brown pub, and then one imposing battery of some 20 taps and almost 100 beers in bottle.\"<\/em> In addition, the judges praised the staff's substantive knowledge of what is on the menu. According to the expert jury, beer is served correctly: at temperature, neat glassware and with logo and felt turned towards the guest. Besides beer, there is also a lot of attention paid to music: \"Our bar staff puts together their own fine music lists as a backdrop to a good afternoon or evening of relaxation. On Fridays and Saturdays, we regularly invite musicians and DJs.\"<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Beer & Bites manages to secure the fourth spot of the Caf\u00e9 Top 100, found on Nijmegen's Priemstraat. According to one jury member: \"One of the best pub visits in recent years!\"<\/em> Beer & Bites has a wide beer range and specialises in beer-food combinations. The combinations of certain beers with appetisers are outstanding according to the judges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 54th place is Caf\u00e9 Piet Huisman in St Jacobslaan in Nijmegen. Inside, the caf\u00e9 looks like a billiard bar from the 1980s. But this gives the establishment unique charm, according to the expert jury. Moreover, the staff greet everyone personally, the jury even calls it one of the best caf\u00e9s in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At spot 60 of the Caf\u00e9 Top 100 is Proeflokaal Beij Ons, located on Daalsedwarsweg in Nijmegen. According to the jury, in addition to the wide collection of special beers, you can also enjoy particularly good food: \"Proeflokaal Beij Ons is a specialty beer pub with a surprisingly nice beer menu, featuring many Dutch specialty beers. The food is particularly good. The dishes are fresh, home-made and varied. The quality does not leave anything to be desired.\" <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In 78th place this year is the Arsenaal 1824, located at the Arsenaalpoort in Nijmegen. The judges speak of a textbook example of a grand caf\u00e9 anno nowadays. \"Beautiful sleek look, modern, cosy and cozy\"<\/em>, said the jury. You can find a complete range from spirits to wine, and from soft drinks to beer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The annual Caf\u00e9 Top 100 elections are organised by the hospitality trade magazine Misset Horeca.
